<title>ZoaID.com expands to CoralPedia.com!</title>
<link>http://zoaid.com/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=18</link>
<description>Hello all,

After much thought and work, we at ZoaID.com have decided to expand to CoralPedia.com! This expansion will allow us to expand into the incredible world of SPS, LPS, and other coral hobbyist identifications.

Additionally, we will be adding a long-term request to the new site: Scientific Identification (Family, Genus, and Species) and color descriptions to all new submissions! These identifications will be to the best of our ability and we will be adding a few new council members experienced in coral identification. We will be going back and adding identification to older submissions as well.

We are very excited about this expansion and hope that you are too! The site has been migrated to the new domain, and we continue to complete that migration even as you read this. If you find any bugs, please let us know by using the 'Contact Us' link on the left-hand menu.

As of the time stamp on this writing, there are over 320 Zoanthid submissins and only a few LPS and SPS submissions. We expect these numbers to grow quickly to over 50 entries within the next month, and the sky is the limit from there! We are now accepting submissions for all corals, so feel free to send us your tank shots and flash shots of your favorite named corals!

Thank you,
 - CoralPedia.com council</description>

<description>This news article is a bit overdue, and my apologies for it's tardiness.

ZoaID.com has brought on a new council member to assist with the site. And man, he came on and cleared our backlog of submissions in a matter of just a couple of weeks! He has been a *huge* asset to ZoaID.com.

Welcome kigs! And thank you very much!

<title>Zoanthids up on eBay!</title>
<link>http://zoaid.com/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=16</link>
<description>Hello all!
ZoaID.com has put a few Zoanthids up on eBay that were in the 2007 calendar (You can see the 2007 calendar using the left-hand menu). They were generously donated by that month's Zoanthid owner. 100% of the proceeds from these auctions will be used toward lowering the price of the 2008 calendar!
If you would like to partake in the auctions, you may see them here:
2007 ZoaID.com Calendar Auctions
If you have any questions, feel free to use the 'Contact Us' link on the left hand menu! Thanks!

<description>Hello all!
Just a quick note to apologize for the recent delays and to let you know that we are in the process of catching up!
Summer time hit the entire ZoaID.com council and our free time went out the window. Me personally? I've been getting SCUBA certified! The Mrs. and I are now PADI Rescue Diver certified! Things are settling down now and we're playing catch up! Expect to see a ton of new submissions in the upcoming weeks as we catch up on the backlog of submissions.
Thanks!

<title>Photo of the Month</title>
<link>http://zoaid.com/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=12</link>
<description>We thought ZoaID.com would start something new - the ZoaID.com Photo of the Month! (POTM)

The POTM will be a monthly shot chosen by the ZoaID.com council as their favorite photo submitted to ZoaID.com for that month. The winning photo will not necessarily be a newly named Zoanthid submission to the ZoaID.com site. Photographs of already named Zoas or other Zoanthid-genre material are constantly being submitted and added to the ZoaID.com site - and we don't want to exclude those shots from the POTM!

So enjoy the new feature, and see what we like the best! The winner will be published on the ZoaID.com homepage.

As a reminder, you can click on the left-hand menu titled 'Changelog' and see all new submissions (newly named submissions or just new shots) added to the site at any time. In fact, this is exactly what the ZoaID.com council uses to preview the shots submitted for that month!

Enjoy,

<title>jreimer's shot's come to ZoaID.com!</title>
<link>http://zoaid.com/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=11</link>
<description>James (jreimer) is a researcher from Japan specializing in Zoanthids/Zooxanthellae. Recently, James hit the RC Zoanthid community with a wealth of scientific identification knowledge and interesting Zoanthid identification news. He is currently trying to use DNA to bring zoanthid taxonomy up-to-date.

He has been so kind as to share some of his pictures with all of us and recently accepted ZoaID.com's offer to host his scientific identification images on our hobbyist identification site! We've setup a special section in our gallery for his current shots with lots of room to grow!

Not only is the scientific identification extremely interesting, his shots are incredible as well! Please check them out here:

<title>'Owner' bug fixed!</title>
<link>http://zoaid.com/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=10</link>
<description>A 'bug' was recently pointed out to me regarding the owners of the shots/albums on ZoaID.com. It wasn't so much a 'bug' so much as a 'feature', but I can totally see how it could have been misinterpreted!

Basically, each album/photo would display an 'Owner' tag at the top right of the page. This 'Owner' represented who did the uploading to the ZoaID.com site. For instance, 'Mr. Smith' submitted a shot to ZoaID.com, and 'whodah' uploaded the shot. The site previously showed 'whodah' as the 'Owner' and 'Mr. Smith' as the photographer, original ID'er, etc..

It was never our intentions to take credit for the Zoanthid shots. In fact, we take pride in having permission to use each and every picture while giving credit where credit is due for each individual shot here on ZoaID.com! It took a while longer than anticipated, but I've figured out how to disable that 'Owner' tag to put the issue to rest.

I apologize for the confusion and hope that those who noticed this bug understand!

Here is a screenshot of the issue:
Owner 'bug' on ZoaID.com

Thanks,

<title>ZoaID forms a Council!</title>
<link>http://zoaid.com/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=7</link>
<description>Hello all, Who Dah? here!

ZoaID.com has grown way beyond my expectations in a very short period of time! These growing pains have been both fun, demanding, and frustrating at the same time. My original vision of ZoaID has morphed as the site progresses. The original mission of the site is still in tact - a showcase of zoanthids utilizing the highest quality photos we can get our hands on submitted by you, the zoanthid enthusiast. The original nomenclature is still in place - a picture and a name of a zoanthid. However, even this will change heading into the future with various addendums of classifications for the zoanthids.

With this in mind, it became apparent that I could no longer exclusively take on this task. After all, this site was my gift to the Zoanthid community, and thus it seems only right to have the community help decide it's future.

As such, ZoaID.com has assembled a 'council' if you will to assist w/ the site! This council will aid ZoaID w/ all future decisions as to the site's direction. It gives an opportunity to mull over difficult decisions on how to run the site as well as feedback (both good and bad) on future features.

There are now 5 members (including myself), and each idea requires the consent of at least 3 - the final decision process is no longer 100% whodah's!

As seen in the past, ideas have surfaced and been put into place from the forums on RC. We're always open to suggestions and often times that's where the best ideas come from! So by all means, if you have an idea, PLEASE share it with us! You can use the 'Contact Us' link on the left hand menu, or just start a topic on one of the Zoanthid based forums (RC, ZrU, etc.) and one of us is bound to see it. Even if it's just feedback on what you like and what you don't like - it's all greatly appreciated.

New actions decided upon the council have already been put into place - the most visible being the requirement of a 'flash' shot in addition to a tank-lit shot for all future submissions dating back as of a couple of weeks ago.

Many other ideas/actions are being worked on and will be announced upon their implementation.

I'd like to personally thank the 'ZoaID.com council members' for helping to make ZoaID a better place and for personally assisting with the site in order of acceptance!

<title>ZoaID.com Gets a face lift!</title>
<link>http://zoaid.com/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=5</link>
<description>A special thanks goes out to weatherson for the graphical art done on ZoaID.com! He did an awesome job, eh?! Thank you weatherson!!

ZoaID.com gets a face lift! After listening to the advice of many Zoanthid Enthusiasts, the site has been re-vamped against very dark colors to encourage the 'popping' of the ZoaID.com Gallery collection. What more fitting colors than purple and green!

Other updates:

Of course the site face lift and artwork ;)
Change-log - on the left-hand menu, see the Zoas added and when they were added. Sortable by chronological or alphabetical orders
Contact Us - on the left-hand menu, the Contact Us page has been revamped and tailored to suit the needs of a Zoanthid submission
Attributes back - all attributes are back on the Gallery! things like 'Who named the Zoanthid' and 'Photographer' are back! They had temporarily disappeared, but have returned. I still want to do some tweaking to get all the information available on each page of the zoa, but it's a start!
RC/ZRU links - added back to the home page
Numerous back-end changes - although not apparent, they have been tweaked and will help to build the framework for future ZoaID expansion!

On a side note, there has been quite a few new Zoas submitted over the past week - thanks guys!!

As always, please Contact me using the link on the left-hand menu if you find any mistakes!

I hope you like it, and enjoy!
